Urban Development Housing
Bernareggio (Milano) - Italy, 2007
With Davide Macullo Architect
Set in the centre of the little town of Bernareggio close to Milan, the new layout inserts itself in the urban fabric sewing the already existent with the newly built by means of a geometry that orthogonally strengthens the volumes and shows a torsion of 45 degrees. The design allows to reduce the size of the new complex to the domestic scale of the urban landscape of the historical town. The intersection of this particular geometry add a contemporary language into a consolidated urbanisation by creating a series of close, half open and open courtyards in a place rich in these typologies. The double orientation of the internal layout gives rationality to the organisation of the floors, enriches the quality of life inside the building and, through wide loggias, establishes a pleasant relation with the greenery of the outdoor spaces through a delimited park.
