Set at the entrance of the little town of Bernareggio close to Milan, the new industrial factory will be the new gateway to the town centre. Compressed into a strict building line, as required by the rules, the two new fronts face each other. They have different heights thus reducing the risk of incurring into a monumental expression. The project aims at carving the new elevation on the street through the deep articulations of the structure and providing a three dimensional facade that lessen the impact of the volume. The new skin is thought as a filter towards the street and let the public space flow into the interior spaces.
The design recalls the linear plantations along the roads of northern Italy by a rhythm of vertical carved volumes that become a metaphor of the trees.
